Information relating to the new edition of the programme will be updated soon.
The Postgraduate Programme in Music Composing and Contemporary Technologies allows musicians to develop their projects using the methods and new instrumental resources of digital programming.
Musical creation and the writing of a composition in a score, through musical notation, are classic tools of historical cultural legacy. Their development in the 20th century reached brilliant solutions summarising aesthetical concepts and the spirit of research and innovation characterising artists.
In addition, musical technology, undergoing constant expansion, in continual collaboration with new scientific developments inherent in the digital
age, has created a new reference framework for music which somehow configures what has come to be known as a third practice. A practice which, apart
from being grounded on a score and instruments, is based on the electronic synthesis of new sounds, on recording and editing resources and on all computerised
means for preparing and generating musical structures.
At this moment of knowledge, it is necessary to build bridges between the various disciplines and offer young musical creators a set of related
subjects providing them with skills for the multiple applications of music and sound. A study programme ranging from the analysis of orchestral scores
to the technical elements of a musical production in a sound laboratory or work on the most relevant aspects of electronic synthesis and transformation
in real time, to knowledge acquisition regarding the synthesis and digital treatment of images, of great importance for audiovisual production team work.
The objective of the syllabus of the Postgraduate Programme in Music Composing and Contemporary Technologies is to analyse the knowledge of composition in depth and to be able to meet the requirements of the different applications of modern music using the most appropriate technical means.
As a professional complement to advanced music studies, this course is aimed at the specialised training of authors with technical preparation
and creative experience from a practical point of view and from the perspective of professional performance required nowadays.
These studies have been created with the idea of collaborating with the various projects of advanced music centres and universities on an international
level and with the objective of promoting musical education.
The areas of study of the Postgraduate Programme in Music Composing and Contemporary Technologies are as follows:
Programme carried out jointly with IUA.
