In-Company Project


The MBA full time is an innovative and practical programme. The need for students to experience real life business situations first hand is seen as a priority. Since the first promotion, the organisation of In-Company Projects, where participants work in internationally focused companies as genuine consultants, has been one of the most important characteristics of the programme. Working in small teams, participants design, develop and deliver a highly original and valued consultancy project in one of Barcelona’s innovative, cutting-edge firms.

 

In-Company Projects are carried out on a range of business topics. Examples of project scopes completed to date include:

Participants work side by side with business professionals learning about the company, the sector where it operates and a vision of the market both locally and globally. Results of the project are used in current business practises. The company invests time and dedication to participants with the aim of professional development and practical use of results within the company. Apart from the obvious networking advantages for participants, this is also a key way for the programme to reinforce contacts between Pompeu Fabra University and the dynamic Barcelona businesses community.

 

Project Samplings

 

In-Company Projects are carried out in English or Spanish depending on the nature of the work required. As these are real consulting contracts, confidentiality is guaranteed to clients. Some of the companies that have given us permission to publicise their projects are:

 

1. CEALCO - Assessment of the market share of the plumbing and air conditioning sector for all 31 members of the purchase association CEALCO. Identification of new possible influence zones and expansion policy recommendations.

 

2. Benitosports - Development of a standardisation plan and restructuring of the sales department processes for a chain of six sporting goods shops - BENITOSPORTS, member of the BASE purchase association.

 

3. INOV Group - consulting firm specializing in offering advice to companies and institutions in the financial sector. Two promotions of MBA full time participants have been fortunate enough to work with the very hands-on management team of this innovative Barcelona enterprise:

 

  • Project I: A market study done for INOV Finance of bankassurance in Spain, examining the country's position within the context of the overall European insurance market. The study included a general analysis of the bankassurance market as well as opportunities and key factors of non-life bankassurance in Spain.
  • Project II: A feasibility study prepared for INOV Insurance, examining the possibilities and opportunities for providing tailored made insurance services to the local expatriate community. Development and implementation of an in-depth market analysis, combined with a structured sales strategy were the outstanding features of this project

 

 

4. SPONSOR, currently Palladium Group - A leading business consultancy firm, specializing in the implementation of innovative methodologies for strategic planning to top Spanish and international companies. MBA full time participants worked closely with senior managers, designing and building a company-wide intranet community, whereby employees could access information about clients, tools, methods and practises in a highly streamlined and user-friendly fashion

 

5. USAC - A knowledge management company, incorporating technology with ingenuity to cover knowledge based communication and visual marketing demands of international companies in a variety of sectors. MBA full time participants worked with top company decision makers to carefully research USACD's market in order to define and create the architecture for the company's working manual. Participants were instrumental in developing this as a tool that could be marketed to both existing and potential clients.
