Barcelona

UPF and Barcelona

From the start, Pompeu Fabra University has kept up close ties with Barcelona, not only because it is located in this city but also because of its active commitment to urban renewal projects. A sign of all this is the overhaul of the area near the Plaça de la Mercè via the renovation of the building that currently houses the Dean’s offices and several of the university’s centralised administrative services. Another example is the influence of the Ciutadella Campus near Wellington street, which has reclaimed the former military quarters and spectacularly transformed the former Water reservoir into one of the loveliest libraries in the city.

Plus, the UPF is taking part in some of the leading initiatives involving innovation and development, such as the Communications Campus right in the heart of the 22@barcelona district. This campus is slated to house the communications fields, ranging from contents to technologies. Another example is the Biomedical Research Park building on the Campus de Mar, a building that houses biomedical centres and companies with the goal of facilitating the transfer between basic research, clinical research and studies in epidemiology and public health.
