This program belongs to the Barcelona School of Management, the new business school of Pompeu Fabra University.
The master's degree offers excellent training on marketing concepts, techniques, procedures and instruments. It is increasingly complex to sell products, services, ideas, but each day new markets and new possibilities open up.
The master's degree avoids understanding marketing as a hypothetical repertoire of automatically applied solutions and places the emphasis on the development of the attitudes and skills necessary for the correct professional practice of marketing in the world today. The structuring element of the learning is the preparation of individual projects and the permanent interaction between participants and lecturers to make this preparation possible and beneficial .
Academic director: José Luis Crespán
Elements differentiating the Master's in Marketing at IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra:
1. Marketing based on objectives. The marketing plan is drawn up entirely by taking into account an initial objective which will dictate the guidelines for analysis, strategies and actions.
2. Focus on skills and attitudes versus knowledge. The programme teaches participants to use their skills and strengthen proactive attitudes for decision-taking. The learning of concepts and models thus turns into an additional tool for the preparation of marketing actions.
3. From actions to the budget. By working based on an initial objective, marketing actions and their costs can be fully estimated. This enables a budget to be prepared which will be justified in accordance with the value given to the objective established.
The programme's overall objective is to provide participants with a broad, up-to-date and professional view of the different areas of the marketing activity.
• Develop the ideal attitudes and skills for the professional practice of marketing.
• Accept, understand and use the changes effectively.
• Understand and practise marketing of use to achieve the objectives established.
The Master in Marketing (MEM) analyses the complexity of marketing and its relationship with the other areas of the organisation and analyses the following basic questions in depth: How are markets researched? How is a marketing plan prepared? How is the activity organised? What special applications are there?
The knowledge acquired is put into practice individually developing the marketing plan of a product or service. The Master in Marketing (MEM) provides specialisation in each of the basic aspects of marketing - product, price, distribution and communication - and places participants in an optimum position to face the challenges arising from professional work .
Moreover, it pays particular attention to three sectors where demand is growing most: services, the public sector and international markets .
The dedication required by the Master in Marketing (MEM) enables it to be combined with the professional activity of the participants .
The Master in Marketing is aimed at those who have already commenced their professional career and intend to enhance it, redirect it and/or develop
it.
These master and postgraduate programmes are aimed at university graduates or graduates with a university-specific degree, and to university certificate
holders wanting to achieve important personal development that will help them improve their practice and professional position. In any case, no less
than two years' professional experience is required in any of the areas of the company or organisation.
