INTERNSHIP

IDEC offers students on certain master's and postgraduate programmes the possibility of developing in a practical way the theoretical knowledge they have acquired in the classroom by applying it to real situations in the professional area of their choice.

The profile of IDEC programme students on internership is that of recent graduates or university diploma students with no previous professional experience who, via these practicals, come into contact with the professional world within their particular area of specialisation.

Duration

Practicals last up to 6 calendar months, within the academic year of registration.

Financial assistance

Entities usually offer participants some financial assistance with their studies. Among other things this assistance covers travel and living expenses. Amounts vary according to the level of studies and the time dedicated to practicals on the part of the participant. This assistance is taxable according to current regulations and is different for resident and non-resident participants in Spain: :

Period of practicals under 183 calendar days in the same calendar year Period of practicals over 183 calendar days in the same calendar year
Spanish residents 2% 2%
Non-residents 24% 2% (with NIE, student resident card)

Tutors

Organisations will designate a tutor for participants on work experience. This tutor will determine activities, guide the student and provide a final performance and evaluation report.

Internership study

IDEC will be responsible for carrying out a study of the internship with both the company and the participant during the course, in order to guarantee its suitability. In addition to this, upon completion of the internship and to guarantee the success of the collaboration, both the tutor and the participant are expected to write an evaluation report provided by IDEC.

Collaboration agreement

The internship programmes will be made formal via the signing of a collaboration agreement between the participating entity and IDEC, with the approval of the postgraduate student on the programme.

This agreement will also include the financial assistance which the student will receive from the entity, as well as administration fees which must be paid by the entity and which for 2006-2007 will be 250 € + IVA per student and agreement.

During the established period of practicals, the company or institution will have no formal working responsibility for the participant, who will be covered by an accident insurance policy provided by IDEC.

"IDEC’s enormous success as a centre of education since it was founded is due, on the whole, to its practical orientation. Internships help participants to apply what they have learned in the classroom to the real world, as well as facilitating contact with young professionals with excellent training."
