UPF has updated its logo 22 years after it was founded in 1990. The new logo reflects the transformation, growth and internationalisation the university has experienced, in addition to its breakthroughs in the field of communications and information technologies.
UPF's new logo will be progressively introduced throughout the 2012-13 academic year, while a website has been created to present it. Folders featuring the new logo have been given to all new undergraduate students who enrolled in July. This update is in line with the vision set out in UPF25Anys, which describes the importance of the logo as a tool for projecting the university and as the backbone of the UPF Group, a group of institutions and establishments specialising in teaching, research and knowledge transfer. The change, which has involved both internal and external university stakeholders, is being implemented in response to five issues: structural changes within the University itself, its urban setting, its connection to Barcelona, new media and new technologies and developments in graphic communication.

Within the framework of the 2012-2015 action plan, the IDEC Foundation is developing three strategic lines aimed at extending the values of IDEC (cooperation, efficiency, depth, awareness and innovation) and making them tangible in behaviours and good practices throughout the community (students, teachers, employees, etc.). An example of this effort has been the remodelling of services and work spaces into collaborative spaces to encourage interdisciplinary work and to position people for key processes instead of organising these processes by department. On the third floor, students will find a well-lit space with all the services related to their programme distributed across two areas: a management area (programme management, academic management and registration) and a service area (welcome service, Alumni and careers service), together with the resource centre. On the first floor, teachers will be able to experiment in the Innolab, with new tools for innovating educational methodology and recording their presentations, classes or pearls of wisdom. We know that space is a key factor in collaboration and in the generation and stimulation of new ideas. In parallel, and with the aim of improving quality and highlighting the link with Pompeu Fabra University, the image, colour and signage of all spaces are being updated in line with UPF's new corporate identity.
