Assistance and services
IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management-Universitat Pompeu Fabra wish to both welcome and support you in this new learning process. For this reason, we have designed an assistance and service programme for participants in the 2011-2012 academic year:
- Netbook or ADSL as a study support offer
- 10% discount on postgraduate courses in their first year
- Language learning assistance: Catalan, Spanish and English courses
- Upf scholarships for the best academic records
1. NETBOOK OR ADSL PROMOTION FOR YOUR FRIENDS
As a support for your master's or postgraduate studies, IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management-Universitat Pompeu Fabra offer you the following:
For face-to-face and blended learning master's and postgraduate programmes (30 or more ECTs):
For online master's and postgraduate programmes (30 or more ECTs):
- Deduction of 240 euros from the total amount of registration fees, equivalent to 6 months' ADSL connection

Bases of the Netbook or ADSL as a study support offer
- In order to be able to benefit from this offer, the participant must register, subject to the acceptance of their candidature, and:
- In the case of master's or postgraduate programmes commencing between 1 September and 1 December 2011, pay 30% of the registration fees before 30 June 2011.
- In the case of master's or postgraduate programmes commencing between 2 January and 30 June 2011, pay 30% of the registration fees before 15 December 2011.
In both cases, the remaining 70% of the registration fees must be paid before the start date of the programme.
- One netbook (PC Compaq MINI CQ10-510SS HP or similar model) or ADSL line will be provided per individual. Under no circumstances may any one participant have access to 2 or more netbooks or ADSL lines even if they are registered in more than one programme.
- Delivery will take place at the Information and Admissions Service at the headquarters of IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management -Universitat Pompeu Fabra, located at Calle de Balmes, 132-134 in Barcelona, from 16.00 to 19.00h. Under no circumstances will the material be sent to the address of the participant.
- Should this model run out, it will be replaced with one of similar characteristics (processer and hard drive capacity).
- Excluded from this offer are the MBA, Master of Science in Management programmes, and the ELISAVA Escola Superior de Disseny programmes.

2. 10% DISCOUNT ON POSTGRADUATE COURSES IN THEIR FIRST YEAR
IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management-Universitat Pompeu Fabra offer a 10% discount on the registration fees of those postgraduate programmes (30 or more ECTs) in their first year in 2011-2012. Those postgraduate programmes to which the discount is applied are:

3. LANGUAGE LEARNING ASSISTANCE: CATALAN, SPANISH AND ENGLISH COURSES
IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management-Universitat Pompeu Fabra wish to help you with language learning. For this reason, in the event you should decide to study a master's or postgraduate course with us, we provide you with the opportunity to learn Catalan and/or brush up your Spanish and English.
Catalan course
To those registered on our face-to-face or blended learning master's or postgraduate programmes of 30 or more ECTs, IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management-Universitat Pompeu Fabra offer the possibility of taking advantage of a Catalan course at no extra cost, to be delivered at the headquarters of IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management -Universitat Pompeu Fabra. 2 courses will be offered, depending on the level of the participant:
- Level 1 (beginners): 40-hour course. 2 hours of classes 2 days a week for 10 weeks (two courses during the first semester of 2011-2012 and one during the second semester of 2011-2012).
- Level 2: 20-hour course. 2 hours of classes 1 day a week for 10 weeks (one course during the second semester of 2011-2012).
Spanish course
To foreign students registered on our face-to-face or blended learning master's or postgraduate programmes of 30 or more ECTs, IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management-Universitat Pompeu Fabra offer the possibility of taking advantage of an intensive Spanish course, at no extra cost, for 2 weeks: 20 hours/week.
The course will be delivered at International House Barcelona (c/ Trafalgar, 14) offering levels from beginners to advanced. In each class, there will be an average of 7-8 students (never more than 10). Classes are normally given 9.30 to 13.30h, Monday to Friday.

English course
For being a participant on an IDEC or the Barcelona School of Management master's or postgraduate course, International House offers you a 10% discount + free registration on three-month English courses of 3 hours per week in groups of a maximum of 12 students at their centre at Calle de Trafalgar, 14.
Bases of language learning assistance
- The Catalan course is aimed only at those participants from outside Catalonia. In order to be able to take advantage of this course, you must pay a deposit of 120 euros which will be returned to you in full once you have completed the course, providing you have attended more than 80% of the classes.
- The Spanish course is aimed only at those foreign participants on the master's or postgraduate courses (30 or more ECTs) not from Spain or Latin American, except Brazil.In order to be able to benefit from this offer, the participant must register, subject to the acceptance of their candidature by IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management , and:
- In the case of master's or postgraduate programmes commencing between 1 September and 1 December 2011, pay 30% of the registration fees before 30 June 2011.
- In the case of master's or postgraduate programmes commencing between 2 January and 30 June 2012, pay 30% of the registration fees before 15 December 2011.
In both cases, the remaining 70% of the registration fees must be paid before the start date of the programme.

The MBA, ELISAVA Escola Superior de Disseny programmes, Master of Science in Management and all online courses are excluded from this offer.
- In order to be able to benefit from the discount on the English course, you must register in a face-to-face or blended learning master's or postgraduate course (30 or more ECTs), subject to the acceptance of your candidature, and register at International House (C/ Trafalgar, 14, Tel:(+34)93 268 45 11) showing your registration receipt.
Steps to follow to be considered for the offers and assistance of the Welcome Service
If you have no yet completed online registration:
- Choose the offer or assistance you desire on completing the programme registration form. In the case of the Spanish course, you must send an e-mail to abroad@idec.upf.edu with the subject matter "Spanish course"
- Follow the steps indicated regarding method of payment and essential documentation for admittance to the programme.
If you have already completed pre-registration or have been admitted to the programme:
- You must send an e-mail to info@idec.upf.edu indicating which offer or type of assistance you wish to apply for.

4. UPF SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THE BEST ACADEMIC RECORDS
The Fundació Privada Institut d’Educació Contínua and Pompeu Fabra University are offering a total of 20 scholarships covering 25% of the registration fees on master’s programmes worth 60 or more ECTS for those UPF students completing their undergraduate studies after May 2011.
Conditions for the assistance of 20 Scholarships for 25% of the fees for UPF students
- These scholarships are intended for those participants who are UPF students and are completing their undergraduate studies during the current academic year (after May 2011).
- In order to be able to take advantage of these scholarships, participants must complete an online application form once they have registered on the chosen programme.
- 15 scholarships will be provided for programmes commencing between 1 September and 1 December 2011. The application deadline is 30 September 2011, and they will be distributed as follows:
- One scholarship for the Master’s in the Strategic Management of ICTs (MSc)
- One scholarship for the Master’s in Business Science (MSc)
- The rest of the scholarships are for Master’s programmes at IDEC-Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Barcelona School of Management
- 5 scholarships will be provided for programmes commencing between 1 January and 1 March 2012. The application deadline is 15 September 2011, and they will be distributed as follows:
- One scholarship for the Master’s in Leadership and the Management of Science and Innovation
- The rest of the scholarships are for Master’s programmes at IDEC and the Barcelona School of Management -Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Barcelona School of Management
- The evaluation committee shall take into account the overall mark of the university award and qualitative criteria in accordance with the programme chosen.
- The evaluation committee shall notify applicants 2 weeks after the application deadline through the Department of Information and Admissions.
- In the case of programmes commencing between October and December, the decision date shall be 14 October 2011.
- In the case of programmes commencing between January and March 2012, the decision date shall be 29 December 2011.
- Excluded from this assistance are the ELISAVA Escola Superior de Disseny programmes, Master in Euro-Mediterranean Affairs, Master in Health Service Administration and Management, Master in Osteopathy, Master in Land and Urban Planning Studies and masters held in foreign countries.
